Higher Education and Economic Development in the Richmond Region
The Capital Region Collaborative invites members of the media to attend a first of its kind event on the economic development impact of the Richmond Region’s seven colleges and universities entitled “Higher Education and Economic Development in the Richmond Region.”
The panel discussion and reception will feature the Presidents or Vice Presidents of each of the seven institutions of higher education and Laura Fornash, the Executive Director of the Governor’s Commission on Higher Education Reform, Innovation, and Investment. The evening’s theme focuses on exploring opportunities for the institutions of higher education to collaborate with local governments and the business community on economic development.

The event is sponsored by the Capital Region Collaborative, a cooperative effort between the Richmond Regional Planning District Commission and Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce to identify and implement regional priorities that will enhance the quality of life in the Richmond Region. The event is co-sponsored by the Greater Richmond Partnership (GRP) and Leadership Metro Richmond (LMR).
The invited audience includes members of the General Assembly, the Governor’s Higher Education Commission, locally-elected officials, school board members, economic development officials, and business owners and executives.
