The Capital Region Collaborative — The Capital Region Collaborative is a cooperative effort between the Richmond Regional Planning District Commission and the Greater Richmond Chamber to engage government, business, and community stakeholders in a processes of identifying, prioritizing, and implementing actions that will enhance the quality of life in the Richmond Region.

Improving our economy was frequently tied to keeping existing businesses and becoming a place for developing businesses

Attract Targeted Businesses and Develop Industry-Specific Strength

• Align region to focus on attracting & developing specific industries (e.g. high-tech, bio-tech, healthcare and medical suppliers)
• Showcase Richmond externally (marketing)
• Capitalize on historical and river resources

Develop Minority and Small Businesses

• Volunteer and donated resourcing to coach and develop minority and small business leaders
• Align existing organizations and efforts in the region (higher education, chambers, businesses) to provide development support for minority and small business

Provide Jobs

• Provide new jobs through combination of increased revenue due to entertainment infrastructure and business attraction
• Create entry level jobs to improve social stability

Sustain Local Business

• Focus on ways to improve performance of regional-based businesses
• Influence region to use and support local businesses
