Social stability was a frequently discussed need that could be addressed by creating awareness and access to existing resources.

Resource Awareness Program

  • Increase awareness of available resources and programs
  • Raise awareness in those communities where there is need
  • Mobile outreach “vans / trucks” with multi-lingual information on access to health, social, legal and education resources

One-Stop Shopping for Resources

  • Create a one-stop / front-door resource to simplify process
  • Could include quarterly event at Convention Center with business and community volunteers as well as transportation provided
  • Could include consolidation of application processes

United Families

  • Leverage faith-based organizations and businesses to mentor and coach parents
  • Analysis by VDPH estimates the cost of fatherless homes exceeds $200 million in Richmond alone
  • Change social programs to not incentivize father absenteeism

Entry-Level Jobs

  • True “entry-level jobs” for the average high school graduate
  • Regional focus on identifying, developing and connecting entry-level jobs with those in community who need them
